An apprenticeship programme to provide jobs for local people has been launched through a partnership with Qualis Management and New City College.

The property services company, which was established by Epping Forest District Council in 2020, is offering a Level 2 Carpentry Apprenticeship and a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

Ben Johnson, Managing Director of Qualis Management comments, “Apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity for someone to build their career by getting hands on experience and training within a company as well as gaining a qualification at college. We are pleased to be partnering with New City College, who have a wealth of experience supporting students through their training and look forward to welcoming our apprentices in the New Year.”

Apprenticeships are available to anyone aged 16 or over and combine working with studying to gain skills and knowledge in a specific job. Successful candidates will spend four days a week working as part of the company, supporting the team to deliver an exceptional standard of property maintenance service to residents across the Epping Forest District, with the other day spent at New City College training towards their qualification.

Phil Lynch, Business Development Manager at New City College comments, “At NCC we are pleased to be working in partnership with Qualis, this will have a positive impact on both talent creation and the local economy. Apprenticeships give individuals the confidence and skills they need to expand themselves and their careers. At NCC we put Apprentices and Employers at the centre of our curriculum, providing skills for the local labour markets we serve.

An apprenticeship will also allow you to earn while you learn, with the employer paying you a salary and covering any tuition fees that are incurred.

Jake Evans, Operations Manager (Repairs) started his career as a multi-trade apprentice for Epping Forest District Council before moving over to join Qualis when the company was established. Jake comments, “Doing my apprenticeship has definitely been a stepping stone and enabled me to progress my career quickly and I would highly recommend this route. My trade background has really helped me progress and move into a management role.”

Closing date for applications is 11th December 2022. For more information about the apprenticeships and how to apply please visit www.qualisgroup.com/careers
